The Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker/Smoker is a traditional charcoal bullet smoker. We were curious how the Weber Smoker would stack up to some of the other smokers on the market. As with most things Weber, the Smokey Mounter Cooker was both durable and efficient, definitely a pleasure to use.

The Highlights of the Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker

The biggest benefit of the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker is how efficient it is. The shell of the smoker is porcelain enamel which is very efficient at keeping in heat. If done properly you can smoke for 18-20 hours with a single batch of charcoal, 2 to 3 times longer than with other smokers.

This added efficiency also allows you better control over the temperature using the air vents on the Web Smokey Mountain. Since you know the base temperature will stay the same, opening or closing a vent is a great way to set the temperature for the long term. Many other smokers have to be baby sat to get the same results.

The Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker is also very sturdy. A porcelain enamel covered shell and tripe nickel plated steel grill grates add to the stability of the Weber Smoker. This is even more apparent when you compare the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker to the Brinkman Charcoal Smoker which is much flimsier.

Between the temperature control and the sturdiness the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker is highly thought of and several members of the BBQ competition circuit use them in competitions.

Features of the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker

The Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker has two large cooking sections which makes it easy to smoke large quantities of food. You can smoke up to 8 racks of ribs or even an entire turkey and entire ham at the same time.

The Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker is completely coated with a porcelain enamel. This makes the Weber very durable as well as very efficient at holding in heat.

The grates of the Smokey Mountain Grill are also very sturdy and are triple nickel plated steel. This makes them easy to clean and able to be stable when smoking heavy meats such as turkey or large briskets.

The Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker even comes with a 10 year warranty just in case anything goes wrong.

Negatives of the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker

There are only two complaints of the Smokey Mountain Cooker. The first is that the access door is not hinged. This can occasionally make it hard to get the door back on, especially when the smoker is hot.

The other complaint is minor as well. The Weber Smoker does not come with a thermometer. You can easily add a candy thermometer or meat thermometer but we were surprised one was not built into it.

All in all the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker is a great smoker and we highly recommend it.
